Passivation. The snare components fabricated from Class 4 steel shall be properly passivated.
Corrosion resistance. The snare components fabricated from Class 4 steel shall show no evidence of corrosion or plating of copper when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation F1089.
Performance. Jaw and ratchet operation shall be in accordance with ASTM Designation F1026. A suture needle 0.015 to 0.035 inch diameter with its axis held perpendicularly to the axis of the jaws shall, up on engagement of the third ratchet of the suture needle held or show no lateral, rotational or longitudinal motion when attempted by hand.
Identification marking and labeling. The suture needle holder shall be legibly marked with the contractor’s name or trademark and the word “stainless”. Foreign manufactured forceps shall bear the name of the country of origin.
Workmanship. The suture needle holder shall be processed in such a manner as to be uniform and free from cracks, pits, burrs, sharp edges, coarse marks, processing materials, and other defects from which its appearance or impair its serviceability.
PRODUCT QUALITY LEVEL.
Visual and dimensional examination. The suture needle holder shall be examined to verify that design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for performing tests to assure that materials are in accordance with requirements.
Unit. Each (EA). One snare and 12 size 5 snare wires, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
