Passivation. The specula shall be properly passivated.
Corrosion resistance. Specula fabricated from Class 4 or 6 steel shall show no evidence of corrosion or copper plating when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation F1089. Specula fabricated from Class 3 steel shall show no evidence of corrosion when boil tested in accordance with ASTM Designation F1089.
Identification marking. The specula shall be legibly marked with the contractor’s name or trademark and the word “stainless”. Foreign manufactured specula shall bear the name of the country of origin.
Workmanship. Specula shall be processed in such a manner as to be uniform and free from cracks, pits, burrs, sharp edges, scale, rough areas, corrosion, grind or tool marks, and dirt or polishing materials.
Product Quality Level.
Visual and dimensional examination. Specula shall be examined to verify that design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for assuring that materials are in accordance with requirements specified.
Unit. Each (EA). One speculum, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
