Finish. The finish of the retractor shall be mirror, satin, or matte finish. The matte finish shall exhibit a uniform non-directional surface texture equivalent to that produced by lightly blasting the prepared surface with fine abrasives under pressure.
Passivation. The retractor shall be properly passivated.
Corrosion resistance. The retractor shall show no evidence of corrosion when tested in accordance with ASTM F1089.
Performance. On the proximal end the ratchet shall not disengage from the position set. The sliding center blade shall have a locking mechanism that, when tightened, holds the center blade from sliding. The sliding center blade shall be mounted so that it pivots vertically and laterally. The hinge mechanism in each arm shall hold the three prong rakes in the position set.
Identification marking and labeling. The retractor shall be legibly marked with the contractor’s name or registered trademark and the word “stainless”. Retractors of foreign manufacture shall bear the name of the country of origin.
Workmanship. Retractors shall be processed in such a manner as to be uniform and free from cracks, pits, sharp edges, scale, rough areas, corrosion, grind tool marks, and dirt or polishing materials.
PRODUCT QUALITY LEVEL.
Visual and dimensional examination. Shall be examined to verify that the design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for performing tests to assure that materials are in accordance with requirements specified.
Unit. Each (EA). One retractor, as specified, constitutes one unit.
