Identification marking and labeling. Forceps shall be legibly marked with the contractor’s name or registered trademark and the word “stainless”. Forceps of foreign shall bear the name of the country of origin.
Performance. When closed, the serrations on the jaws shall interdigitate. The joint performance of the box lock shall be smooth, of equal resistance, and nonbinding when opening or closing the forceps to an included angle of 90 +/- 5 degrees. The jaw tips shall close first and progressively tighten with each ratchet position. Ratchet and ratchet catch shall engage smoothly and securely at each ratchet position and release easily.
Workmanship. Forceps shall meet the workmanship, finish, and appearance requirements in ASTM Designation F1079 as applicable.
Visual and dimensional examination. Forceps shall be examined to verify that design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for performing tests to assure that materials are in accordance with requirements.
Unit. Each (EA). One forceps, as specified, constitutes one unit of issue.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
