Finish. The guide wire shall have a finish equivalent to one produced by grinding to remove surface imperfections, followed by polishing with No. 220 emery, followed by buffing with 400 grit or finer.

Corrosion resistance. The guide wire shall show no evidence of corrosion when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation F1089.

Identification marking and labeling. The guide wire shall be legibly marked with the contractors name or trademark and the word “stainless”. Foreign manufactured guide wires shall bear the name of the country of origin.

Workmanship. The guide wire shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.

PRODUCT QUALITY LEVEL.

Visual and dimensional examination. Guide wires shall be examined to verify that the design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.

Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for performing tests to assure that materials are in accordance with requirements specified.

Unit. Package (PG). One package containing fifty individually packaged sterile guide wires of the sizes specified constitutes one unit. The individual package shall be a sealed, peel-open type container capable of maintaining sterility of contents unless package is damaged or opened.

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.

Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
