Hardness. The clamps shall have a Rockwell Hardness C Scale (HRC) of C36 to C41 for type 416 material, C38 to C44 for 410 material, and C40 to C47 for type 420 material when tested in accordance with ASTM E18 or E92, whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM E140.
Style, design and dimensions. The clamps shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 20901 for style, design and dimensions.
Performance. The clamps shall be capable of meeting applicable requirements of ASTM F1026.
Finish. The clamps shall have a mirror, satin, or matte finish.
Passivation. The clamps shall be properly passivated.
Corrosion resistance. The clamps shall show no evidence of corrosion when tested in accordance with ASTM F1089.
Identification marking and labeling. The clamps shall be legibly marked with the contractor’s name or registered trademark and the word “stainless”. Foreign manufactured clamps shall bear the name of the country of origin.
Workmanship. The clamps shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One clamp, as specified, constitutes one unit.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
