On-off switch. Shall provide on-off power capability at the light handle and shall connect between the light handle and the transformer cord plug. The switch shall have 6 volt, .7 amp capability.
Instructions. Instructions for use of the system shall be provided with each set.
Sterilization. The light handle shall withstand repeated autoclaving at 270°F, 27 psi for 6 minutes and ethylene oxide at 130°F, 8 psi, for 4 hrs. The switch and transformer shall withstand sterilization with ethylene oxide as shown above.
U.L. Listing. The system must be listed to U.L. Standard No. 544, comply with U.L. 1310 and CSA Certified to Standard No. C22.2 No. 125, as patient-care equipment (Risk Class II).
Dielectric strength. 1500 V.A.C., 60 Hz shall be applied for 1.0 second, between the primary and secondary of the transformer. The plug prongs shall be connected together during this test. The pins at the end of the output cord shall be similarly connected. There shall be no evidence of breakdown or leakage in excess of 500 UA.
Leakage current. Leakage current shall be measured from each transformer output terminal to ground. During the test, the primary shall be connected to a 120V, 60 Hz power source and the secondary loaded at 710 mA. Leakage current shall not exceed 10 microamperes as measured through the standard load described in U.L. Standard No. 544.
Workmanship. The illuminator set shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability. Component parts shall be free from burrs, sharp edges, deformation, and foreign material.
Unit. Set (SE). One set consisting of an illumination set, as specified, constitutes one unit, complete and detailed instructions for use shall be supplied with each set.
