CANNULA, ESOPHAGEAL, ASPIRATING,
Curved, Jackson, 4 mm Diameter
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a Jackson curved, open-end, aspirating cannula designed for use with a 5 mm or larger rigid esophagoscope.
Salient characteristics:
General. The aspirating cannula shall be of the Jackson design having a regular type diameter. The cannula shall be open-ended and have a knob at the end of the proximal curve to inhibit disconnection from the suction tubing during use.
Material. The cannula tube shall be nickel-copper alloy (Monel 400) with an approximate composition of 67 percent nickel and 30 percent copper, and the knob (fitting) on the proximal end shall be Class 3 corrosion resistant steel in accordance with ASTM F899.
Style, design and dimensions. Aspirating cannulas shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 23491 for style, design and dimensions.
Hardness. The cannula tube and knob shall have a Rockwell Hardness B scale (HRB) of 73 to 100 when tested in accordance with ASTM E18 or E92, whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM E140.
Finish. The finish of the cannula shall be mirror.
Passivation. Cannulas shall be properly passivated.
Corrosion resistance. Cannulas shall show no signs of corrosion when tested for corrosion resistance in accordance with ASTM F1089.
