COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION A-A-51983

Corrosion resistance. Speculum shall be tested for corrosion-resistance as specified under Quality Assurance Provisions.

Markings. Speculum shall be permanently marked with the manufacturer’s name or registered trademark and the size (specification size or nominal i.d.). Speculum of foreign manufacture shall be marked with the name of the country of manufacture. Speculum manufactured from corrosion-resistant steel shall be marked with the word “stainless”.

Workmanship. The speculum shall be processed in such a manner as to be uniform and free from defects that will affect life, utility, or appearance.

Product Quality Level

Visual and dimensional examination. Shall be examined to verify that design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.

Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for performing tests to assure that materials are in accordance with requirements specified.

Unit. Set (SE) or Each (EA). One speculum set (containing sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7 for NSN 6515-01-164-8869) or one speculum of the size specified, constitutes one unit.

Quality Assurance Provisions.

Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.

Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government, upon the Government’s request, at any time, or from time, to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of 3 years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate.
