COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLIP, HEMOSTATIC, STEEL (Raney)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for MIL-C-37124, dated 30 April 1975, which is cancelled.
This commercial item description covers a Raney style hemostatic clip used for hemostasis during cranial surgical procedures.
Salient characteristics.
General. The clip shall be capable of being applied with the appropriate Raney scalp clip applying forceps (See Note 2).
Material. The clip shall be fabricated from spring grade SAE 1095 carbon steel.
Style, design and dimensions. The clip shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 1995.
Finish. The finished clip shall be either nickel, plated per Federal Specification QQ-N-290 Class 1, Type III, (ks) or black. The finish shall be smooth and uniform throughout. The clip shall be free from burrs, sharp edges, (except for clamping teeth), cracks, pits, scale corrosion, and non-uniform plating.
Sterilization. The clip shall be capable of steam sterilization when tested as specified. There shall be no evidence of corrosion, distortion, peeling or blistering.
Permanent set. The clip shall exhibit a permanent set of 5/32 inch maximum when tested as specified.
