COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TUBES, NASAL FEEDING, SURGICAL, INFANT, DISPOSABLE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-T-36368 which is cancelled.
This commercial item description covers sterile, disposable, plastic nasal feeding tubes suitable for feeding premature infants.
Salient Characteristics:
General. The tubes shall be furnished in either of the following types: Type I, with Integral Luer connector formed from plastic tubing and cap, Type II, with attached but separate Luer connection and plug.
Style and design. The tubes shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 20524.
Material. The tubes shall be fabricated from transparent, flexible polyvinyl chloride plastic with a Shore A Durometer hardness of 60 to 70 when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation D2240.
Sterility. The tubes shall be sterile when tested in accordance with the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) or AAMI guidelines. Sterility assurance level shall be 0.000001.
Pyrogenocity. The tubes shall be safe and free from pyrogens when tested in accordance with the USP.
Toxicity. The tubes shall meet the requirements of the USP for class IV plastics.
