Identification marking and labeling. Tubes shall be legibly marked with French size the contractor’s name or trademark. Foreign manufactured tubes shall bear the name of the country of origin.
Workmanship. The tubes shall manufactured in such a manner as to be uniform in quality and free from defects that will affect life, serviceability, or appearance. The tubes shall not cause irritation and shall be free from objectionable odors at the time of delivery, during use and in storage.
Visual and dimensional examination. Tubes shall be examined to verify that the design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for performing tests to assure that materials are in accordance with requirements specified.
Security of assembly. The tubes shall be conditioned at 170° +/- 3° Fahrenheit (°F) and 100 percent relative humidity for 20 minutes. The security of assembly of cap (Type I) or Luer connection and cap (Type II) shall then be tested by gradually applying a 1 pound weight to cap or Luer connection (as applicable) and maintaining the load for 15 seconds, while the component is held in a clamping device so that the tubing hangs vertically downward.
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing fifty individually packaged sterile tubes of the type specified, constitutes one unit. The individual package shall be capable of maintaining sterility of contents unless the package is damaged or opened.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
