COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FORCEPS, BRONCHOSCOPIC, BIOPSY, CANNULATED
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a cannulated biopsy bronchoscopic forceps suitable for use in endoscopic procedures.
Salient Characteristics:
General. The forceps shall be cannulated with center-action handles, double action jaw and of such size as to be used in a 5 mm or larger endoscope. The jaws shall be oval and concaved with the upper and lower edges aligned in the closed position. The stylette (rod inside cannular portion of forceps) shall be designed to fail before the jaws, thus preventing debris from the apparatus from being left in the patient.
Material. The handles and jaws shall be Class 4 corrosion-resistant steel and the cannular portion and stylette shall be Class 3 corrosion-resistant steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F899.
Style, design and dimensions. The forceps shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 24595.
Hardness. The forceps handles and jaws shall have a Rockwell Hardness C scale (HRC) of 38 to 44 and the stylette a hardness of HRB 75 to 100 when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation E18 or E92 whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM Designation E140.
Finish. The forceps shall have a satin finish.
Passivation. The forceps shall be properly passivated.
