COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HEELS, ORTHOPEDIC, CAST
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-H-37577 which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers an adult size walking heel for incorporation into an orthopedic cast of the lower leg.
Salient characteristics:
General. The orthopedic heels covered herein shall be of the following types:

Firm walking surface; triangle design tread. |

Medium firm walking surface; fine serrated tread. |

Firm walking surface; coarse serrated tread. |
|
IV |
Resilient walking surface; diamond design tread. |
Material. Heel types I, II, and IV shall be molded from either natural or synthetic rubber compound that is suitable in all respects for the purpose intended. Heel type III shall be molded from ethylene propylene terpolymer that is suitable in all respects for the purpose intended.
