Design and construction. Type I razor shall be a sterile razor and Type II razor shall be a nonsterile razor. Roth types of razors shall be double-edged and disposable with a coated stainless steel blade suitable for Use in surgical procedures. The safety razor shall consist of a handle and head (frame and cap) which permanently secures the blade. Razor shall be of the disposable type, as shown in Figure 1 and shall conform to the following dimensions:

Razor shall have a protective cover (plastic or cardboard) fitting over the-blade. Cover may be snap-off type or may slide over the head of the razor. Razor shall have from 9 to 10 teeth on both sides of the razor head. As an alternate, one side of the razor head may be smooth with the other side having from 9 to 10 teeth. The teeth shall be spaced and beveled to prevent clogging and to facilitate rinsing. In figure 1, the teeth on the corners shall be wide enough to prevent scratching of the tissue. The assembly of the head frame, cap and blade shall be properly orientated with respect to each other, to preclude any movement of the blade cutting edge. The assembly shall not inhibit clearance at the interface of the head frame, cap and blade. The straight beveled edges of the blade 'shall be parallel and equidistant from the tips of the razor head teeth. The handle of the razor shall have a suitable gripping surface to minimize slippage during use. Gripping surface may be of any design shown in Figure 1.
