Finish of the blade (uncoated). The cutting edges of the blade shall be bilaterally ground and honed to razor sharpness. The final honed bevels shall be flat, smooth, and continuous throughout the entire length of the blade. Except for the extreme 1/8 inch (0.32 Cm) at either end, the cutting edge shall be free from micro-cracks, and ne more than 5% of the edge length shall show nicks, notches, or unhoned portions when viewed microscopically. The remainder of the blade shall have a smooth and bright polished finish. The entire blade shall be free from rust, scale, burrs, pits and cracks.
Identification marking. The razor and blade shall be permanently and legibly marked with the name or trademark of the manufacturer.
Workmanship. The safety razor shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG).
Type I. One package containing 100 individually packaged sterile razors, constitutes one unit. The individual -package shall be a sealed peel-open type container capable of maintaining sterility of contents, unless the package is damaged or opened.
Type II. One package containing 100 nonsterile razors, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
