COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
INSTRUMENT SET, SURGICAL, DISSECTION, VITREORETINAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers an autoclavable vitreoretinal dissection instrument set.
Salient Characteristics:
The instrument set shall consist of three (3) surgical dissection instruments contained in a protective sterilization case. The surgical instruments shall be designed and constructed to facilitate ophthalmic surgical procedure involving the dissection of delicate tissue planes in the vitreous cavity, including separation of cortical vitreous and epiretinal membranes from the inner surface of the retina.
The sterilization case shall have the capacity to hold six (6) surgical instruments and shall be suitable for use as a container for holding the surgical instruments while they are being sterilized in an autoclave. The sterilization case shall also be suitable for storage and transportation of the surgical instruments, when outside of an autoclave.
Surgical Instruments. Shall be supplied with three surgical dissection instruments having different tip configurations.
The surgical instruments shall be supplied with the following three (3) tip configurations:
One tip with a 90° blunt hook to engage the proximal edge of membranes.
One tip with a 130° blunt hook to engage the distal edge with dissection in the direction of the incision quadrant.
