The handle and tip of each of the required surgical instruments shall conform to the requirements in figure 1 for dimensions and configuration.
Each required surgical instrument shall be light weight, corrosion-resistant, autoclavable, and designed to be handheld and non-powered. Each required surgical instrument shall be six (6) inches long and shall consist of:
A four (4) inch diamond knurled handle (see figure 1) fabricated from Beta III titanium alloy.
A two (2) inch tapered tip (see figure 1) fabricated from Beta III titanium alloy or 17-4PH corrosion-resisting steel.
Sterilization Case. Shall be supplied with a protective sterilization case that is designed to hold surgical instruments securely in place without inflicting any damage to the tip ends. The sterilization case shall have nominal overall dimensions of 8 inches long X 3 inches wide X 1 inch deep, and shall include the following:
A housing with a low reflective glare, that is fabricated from 22 gauge type 304 corrosion-resisting steel and includes drain holes for condensate collected during a sterilization process (autoclaving).
A hinged corrosion-resisting metal cover with a compression spring catch.
A pivotable metal block that is secured toward an inner edge of the housing (short dimension)
A bracket that is secured within the housing at a location above the pivotable metal block.
All metal parts shall be suitably protected against corrosion.
